On 18 November, our Year 2 pupils went on a truly special trip to the Lunar Museum in Fresnedillas de la Oliva — it was like becoming astronauts for a day!During the visit, they learned all sorts of fascinating facts about the Solar System. They put on 3D glasses to see space up close and even met R2, a robot with no legs because… he doesn’t need them in space! They also discovered that astronauts must do two and a half hours of exercise every day to stay strong — and they had the chance to try some of the exercises astronauts do in space themselves. The children learned lots of fun facts, such as:The closest star to us after the Sun is Alpha Centauri, which is four light-years away.Stars can be many colours: yellow, red, blue, orange and white.Stars are made of plasma, not lava. They discovered planet Kepler-186f, which is very similar to Earth. The children had an amazing time and came back to school as true space explorers!Iria.
