Languages
In our Steps project, through songs, games, stories and interactive activities, students at International Aravaca from 2 to 6 years old are encouraged to become avid learners.
Little kids experience all classes, activities, visual stimuli and interactions with teachers only in English for their first year.
As students progress, they start classes in Spanish as well. With interactive and hands-on playful activities they learn and think in both languages.
Beyond books, pupuls learn through interactive games, puzzles, narrations of everyday experiences, role-plays, colouring and outdoor activities.
Children experiment with tech tools during group activities, understanding these are useful instruments at the service of learning.
Students enjoy weekly pool lessons to support physical well-being and optional sport courses such as ballet and pre-sport.
Through the Mindful Minds programme little kids acquire socio-emotional skills, controlling their emotions and improving concentration.
Pupils can start their Early Years journey any time of the year. Our Admissions team stands ready to accompany families through the application process.
Students learn, play and explore in our world-class facilities: a playground, a psychomotor & sensory room, an orchard and kid-sized classes.
Students can access our authorised Primary Years Programme (PYP) which focuses on their whole development, addressing not only academic development but also their social, emotional and physical needs.
Making sense of sounds
Students learn sounds in a multi-sensory, fun and engaging way with our phonetic and literacy method based on “Jolly Phonics”. This helps them to learn to read and write using the phonic system. Little kids use it from age 2 until the third year of primary school.
Growing together
Kids enjoy a variety of different stimuli to develop motor, cognitive and social abilities. Through our classes, they assimilate the basics of socialisation and teamwork through collective fun games and physical activities. The quantity and quality of stimuli received during Early Years plays a key role in shaping a child’s academic success and personal growth.
Confidence in speaking
Pupils engage in fun collective sessions where they can express themselves confidently and start communicating clearly. Guided by EY specialised teachers, they assimilate the basics of vocabulary and pronunciation, other than becoming able to articulate ideas effectively.
Love for reading and writing
Little kids learn right from the beginning the fundamental skills of reading and writing. Through interactive and engaging activities, writing is introduced progressively so that students naturally absorb literacy skills, enhance their vocabulary and develop critical thinking. Books are presented as sources of fun and knowledge, fostering a love for reading in our youngest students.
Exploring the arts
Through drawing, painting, music and drama, students explore their creativity, enhance their fine motor skills and develop emotional intelligence. Artistic language allows children to communicate thoughts and emotions in unique ways, fostering confidence and imagination. Our program encourages experimentation with different artistic techniques, helping students build a deep appreciation for the arts while expressing themselves freely and creatively.
Confident communicators
Pupils understand and interpret spoken and written English through engaging and interactive learning experiences. Students build vocabulary, improve fluency and develop critical thinking skills through an approach that includes storytelling, reading activities, listening exercises and discussions. They are immersed in a bilingual environment right from the beginning, ensuring they gain confidence and proficiency in understanding English naturally and effectively.

At Internacional Aravaca, we nurture key life skills from Early Years, focusing on emotional intelligence, communication and creativity. The MindUP programme teaches mindfulness, self-awareness and empathy. Collaborative play builds teamwork and leadership, while storytelling and presentations boost confidence and critical thinking. Project-based learning sparks curiosity and problem-solving, laying foundations for innovation. These skills equip young learners for lifelong success.
At Internacional Aravaca, students embrace multilingualism from Early Years via English-Spanish immersion within the IB PYP framework. Native teachers provide authentic input, while storytelling, songs and role-play encourage spontaneous language use. Translanguaging strategies let children draw on both languages confidently. Activities like "Show and Tell" empower even our youngest learners to express ideas bilingually with pride.
At International Aravaca the Admissions department remains open throughout the year, looking forward to the opportunity to welcome new students into our school community, regardless of the season.
