Once again, our Early Years and Primary students took part in the Pañuelo Challenge to support Fundación Aladina, a foundation that provides emotional, psychological, and practical support to children and teenagers with cancer and their families. In the days leading up to the initiative, teachers spoke with students about the purpose of this charitable action, using age-appropriate resources and videos to help them understand the meaningful work carried out by the foundation and how a small gesture can make a big difference.Between January 26th and 28th, students who wished to participate brought their voluntary donations to school. Thanks to the generosity and involvement of our families, we successfully raised 1,400 euros, which have been fully donated to the foundation. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the families who contributed. Your support has been essential and once again shows the strength of our school community when we come together for a common cause.Beyond its charitable impact, this initiative has also had significant educational value, as it is closely connected to the IB Learner Profile within the Primary Years Programme (PYP). Through the Pañuelo Challenge, we especially worked on the attribute of being “caring,” encouraging our students to develop empathy, compassion, and a commitment to taking action in support of others. Our learners experienced firsthand that being caring means actively striving to make a positive difference in people’s lives, and that regardless of age, everyone can contribute to building a better world. On February 12th, we shared a very special moment as we all wore our scarves and took part in a joint activity that symbolized the unity of the entire stage around this meaningful cause. It was a powerful experience that gave real purpose to the learning process and will surely remain in our students’ memories.Thank you for helping us continue to educate not only knowledgeable students, but also caring and socially responsible individuals. Together, we make a difference.Amy.
