Internacional Aravaca commits to mobile-free classrooms for a more focused learning experience

Internacional Aravaca maintains a clear policy: the wellbeing, concentration and holistic development of our students come before any trend.

At a time when many schools are introducing mobile phone locker systems, Internacional Aravaca maintains a clear policy: the wellbeing, concentration and holistic development of our students come before any trend.

Although we do not use lockers, our policy strictly prohibits the use of mobile phones and smartwatches within the school grounds throughout the entire school day, including lessons, breaks, complementary and extracurricular activities. Any student who brings a device and allows it to ring or uses it will face disciplinary action in accordance with our Coexistence Plan, and parents will be contacted immediately.

Our goal is to ensure an environment free from distractions, where students can learn, connect and enjoy their daily routines without interference from the digital world. For this reason, we ask for the cooperation of the entire educational community: students, families and staff. If a mobile phone is seen being used during the school day, we ask that it be reported immediately so that the school can respond promptly and consistently.

"Education is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about learning to coexist, focus and enjoy being present. Our device policy is a firm commitment to that balance." - Management Team, Internacional Aravaca

If necessary, students may leave their phone at the school office upon arrival and collect it at the end of the day. Families can also communicate with their children through the school, ensuring a safe and structured communication channel.

This policy is in line with recommendations from organisations such as UNESCO and the World Health Organization (WHO), which warn of the effects of excessive digital device use among young people: decreased attention, increased anxiety and reduced academic performance.
