On 28 November, the children in I5 enjoyed a learning-filled experience during their school trip to Kitchen Academy, organised as part of the Unit of Inquiry “Health determines human wellbeing.” This hands-on activity allowed them to better understand the importance of nutrition and how healthy choices help maintain a strong and happy body.

Upon arrival, the Kitchen Academy instructors welcomed the group with great enthusiasm and began by explaining, using engaging images and child-friendly language, what it means to eat well. They spoke about the value of using fresh ingredients and preparing balanced meals. The children quickly got involved, sharing their own ideas and talking about how food affects their growth, energy and everyday health.

One of the most enjoyable moments came when the children learned how to make pizza from scratch, following each step of the process. Later, they took part in another cooking activity: preparing delicious carrot-cake muffins.

This visit became a valuable opportunity for I5 pupils to connect health and wellbeing with the food they eat. By taking part directly in cooking and baking, they developed useful skills and gained a deeper understanding of the importance of eating well. Without a doubt, this experience brought their Unit of Inquiry to life, motivating them to make more conscious choices about their diet and to build healthy habits for the future.
