To mark International Climate Change Day (celebrated every 24 October), fifth and sixth grade primary school pupils took part in the fun, collaborative workshop ‘Climate Fresk’ (The Climate Mural). The activity, designed to raise awareness of the environmental crisis, allowed pupils to become climate detectives.Using an adapted version of 23 cards from ‘Climate Fresk,’ students worked in teams to connect the causes and consequences of global warming. Based on reports from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), the workshop transforms complex scientific information into an interactive game that encourages collective intelligence and critical thinking. The aim was to understand the systemic nature of climate change, from gas emissions to sea level rise and extreme weather events. The day ended with a reflection phase where we discussed what emotions and concrete actions they can implement in their daily lives, both at school and at home. This workshop not only seeks to educate, but also to empower the next generation to take an active role in the fight against the climate crisis, demonstrating that action can begin at any age.Mónica C.
