Our I5A and I5B students have begun an exciting new learning journey focused on the Solar System and the universe. Through this unit, guided by the Central Idea “Exploring the sky and space helps us understand the universe and express our curiosity about the unknown,” children are developing their natural sense of wonder while learning about what lies beyond our planet.Throughout the unit, students will explore different Lines of Inquiry. They will observe what we can see in the sky and discuss how we interpret these observations. They will also learn about the characteristics of the Solar System, discovering planets, their order, and their unique features. In addition, children will reflect on how people imagine and express ideas about the universe, understanding that there are many perspectives and creative ways to represent space.To spark curiosity and excitement, on Monday, January 12th, the children experienced a very special motivational day. They took part in a variety of fun and engaging activities that introduced them to our new unit on the Solar System. They learned the names of the planets, placed them in order on a large black blanket representing outer space, launched rockets, and even met an astronaut!It was a joyful and memorable morning that inspired many questions and a strong desire to learn more. Since that day, our students have been eager to discover everything about space — and they are more than ready to take off on this new adventure!Laura Orán.
