Exploring the Art of Yayoi Kusama

The company ArtStories visited our school to introduce students to Kusama’s unique artistic universe

We are happy to share that the children in the I3 group have taken part in a special motivational activity, part of our fifth Unit of Inquiry, inspired by the renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

During this enriching experience, the company ArtStories visited our school to introduce students to Kusama’s unique artistic universe. Through storytelling and guided exploration, the children learned about her distinctive style, focusing on her use of repetitive patterns, vibrant colors, and immersive environments.

The sensory room was transformed into an interactive art installation inspired by Kusama’s work, filled with colorful dots, stickers, reflective surfaces, and soft lighting effects. This carefully designed space encouraged curiosity and imagination, allowing the children to move freely, observe, and interact with their surroundings.

Throughout the activity, students engaged in hands-on experiences that stimulated their senses and creativity. They experimented with visual patterns, explored reflections, and expressed themselves through movement and play. This immersive approach not only introduced them to contemporary art but also supported their cognitive, sensory, and emotional development.

Overall, the activity provided a meaningful and memorable opportunity for the children to connect with art in an active, playful, and inspiring way.
